Dancer's roadmap
The dance club offers courses in different level groups, from beginners to competitive groups. The time a dancer spends at a certain level depends on the quality and quantity of dance training, as well as previous sports background.
We recommend that you carefully familiarise yourself with the course levels before registering. If you are unsure between two levels, choose a lower level rather than a level that is too high.
No don't need any previous dancing experience. You are also very welcomed with two left feet!
Improvers course is for dancers that have taken the beginners course. Dancers are expected to lead or follow basic figures comfortably. The content of the course changes every season. We recommend taking this improvers course at least twice before moving on to intermediate level.
Intermediate level is for those who have danced for a while and who already feel confident with the things taught at improvers level. You can vary your dance; among other things, you are able to change your dance to match the music and you can dance with partners of different skill levels. Festivals and dance parties are probably already familiar and enjoyable to you, and you want to deepen your skills to be able to create better and better moments on the dance floor for yourself and your partners. The content of the course changes every season, so you can enjoy dancing and learning at this level for several years.
Advanced level is for the most advanced dancers in Comets. You have attended to weekly classes, workshops and festivals during several years already, and practised things taught in courses regularly in your own time. You are confident with basic techniques. Advanced dancers are hard-working trainers and have clear goals for how they want to develop their dance. Advanced level courses have a level check to ensure the level of course attendees.
Competition groups are meant for dancers who are interested in competing and want to develop their dance. You can apply to competition groups when you feel confident with the things taught at improvers level. Competition groups are small groups with 5-7 dance partners and dancers will get a lots of personal feedback.
Other levels
There may also be combined course levels, such as intermediate-advanced. A more detailed description of the level and content of the course can be found in the description of each course in myClub.
You can attend open level classes when you have learned the basics of the dance.
If you are unsure about your own level, choose a lower level rather than a level that is too high.
